STUDIO POLICY
All students are expected to come to the lesson fully prepared.  Aside from fulfilling the home-practice required, this also means arriving with one's notebook, all current music books, rosin, shoulder rest and a well-maintained instrument. I recommend Brooklynlutheries.com or Matthias Lehner (lehnerviolins.com) for regular maintenance. I suggest getting strings, shoulder rests etc. from Shar Products -www.sharmusic.com, Young Musicians www.young-musicians.com or Johnson Strings at www.johnsonstrings.com.

A Note to Parents
Remember that you are a key part of the Learning Triangle! Please make sure that you have your assignment book, pencil and other materials to take meaningful notes at each lesson. You can also make use of your iphones and ipads to record videos of new skills, etc.  If you are not sure what to write down, please ask for my help.  Older, more advanced students can begin to take their own notes. Otherwise, I ask that parents be quietly involved observers, and not use the lesson time to catch up on other work. To facilitate productive home practice, your notes are critical!  It will also make practice time a lot easier :).

MAKE-UP LESSONS
If I need to cancel for any reason, I will make-up the lesson or offer you a credit if necessary. If you need to cancel a lesson for any reason, I can make the lesson up only if I have a minimum of 24 hours notice. In cases of illness, we can try to do a make-up, but I can't guarantee it. Unfortunately, last minute illness is all too common and it's not possible to offer a credit for each and everyone in that circumstance. Extenuating circumstances will be the only excuses accepted for receiving make-up lessons. I cannot make-up lessons due to other circumstances. Thank you for understanding.

When you arrive, please make every effort to whisper, quietly take your instrument out, rosin your bow, put your shoulder rest on etc. so that you are ready for your lesson! Please be prompt to all lessons. As in any profession where scheduling is back to back, I may occasionally run a few minutes late, but every effort is made to run the schedule on time as a courtesy to all students. If you need to use the restroom, please do so quickly and quietly, before the lesson. If you arrive early or stay late, this can be a great time to learn from watching another student's lesson. Siblings are welcome to come to lessons, but should sit or play quietly without distracting students.
